Bachelor’s degree requirements

While we very much welcome international students to follow our master in English Linguistics & literature, we want to make sure that students know what to expect of our master’s programme so that they stand a good chance to achieve the degree.

In our experience, international students sometimes struggle with the advanced knowledge of linguistic and literary theory and analysis that we presume students have in order to take on the master’s courses. Or, they might be highly skilled in one discipline, and not the other.

That’s why it is necessary to have achieved competences in the following scientific disciplines: English linguistics, English literary studies and scientific research and writing.

Your application will be screened with these requirements in mind.

Language requirement

You need to have obtained a C1-level in English language proficiency.

You will need to hand in a C1 certificate, but not if your bachelor’s programme was taught in English at an English-language institution.

When your bachelor curriculum was NOT taught in English at an English-language institution then you will need to hand in a valid proof of C1 proficiency in English.

You can submit the results of these tests after the deadline of application, but you need to submit before finishing the enrollment procedure, i.e. before the start of the academic year.
